Abstract

|
|
Autonomic nerve fibers are often affected in the peripheral neuropathies selectively or predominantly. Autonomic features involving the cardiovascular, gastrointestinal, sudomotor, urogenital systems not only bring the patients into the troubles but rarely cause to death. Diabetes mellitus is the most common cause of autonomic neuropathy. Amyloidosis, infections, drugs, and toxins are another cause of peripheral autonomic neuropathy. There has been convincing evidence of autoimmune autonomic neuropathies, as well. Though there is no effective treatment yet, the recognition and symptomatic management is important to the physician and the patient.
